  • explore the Salzkammergut with your bike

The Post am See is the ideal base station for cycling enthusiasts. Just outside the door, on the saddle and off you go! No bike transport, no long travel times and no crowds: starting from Traunkirchen, the many lakes in the area can be explored. Calmly.

Cycling has experienced a real boom in recent years and e-bikes make it possible to conquer steep inclines even as an inexperienced cyclist. With the built-in electric motor, even steep mountains lose their horror and completely new possibilities open up. Hotel guests have the option of renting a modern e-bike for € 35.00 per day at reception, or borrowing a bike for free. You can also get information about tours and excursions at our reception.

Whether a normal bike, e-bike or mountain bike: everyone gets their money's worth in the Salzkammergut. Here are some route suggestions from our host Wolfgang Gröller in various levels of difficulty:

The "7-Lakes-Route": Set off with your racing bike in Traunkirchen and start from the Traunsee to the following six lakes: Attersee, Mondsee, Wolfgangsee, Schwarzensee, Offensee, Langbathsee. The route takes around 5 hours and there are many places to stop for a break along the way.
"Just a short trip to Gmunden": A relaxed bike tour to Gmunden and "unter'n Stoa" to the Hoisn Inn (duration: around an hour) and after a short stop by ship back to Traunkirchen.

Easy: The "Langbathsee-Runde": The tour takes around two and a half hours and starts from Traunkirchen, on to Ebensee, over Langbathsee to "Luag" and via Neukirchen back to the starting point in Traunkirchen.
Medium: The "Sonnstein-Runde": In around four hours you drive over Ebensee, in the direction of the two Langbath lakes and over the Hochsteinalm back to Traunkirchen.
Difficult: for highly motivated and well-trained mountain bikers there is the very challenging option of climbing over 1000 meters in altitude on the nearby Feuerkogel.

Hint: You can get more detailed information about all tours at the hotel reception.
