Morning mist over the lake, golden forests, crisp air – and trails for every level. Three rides, three levels, endless views.
Three tours. Three levels. Endless views.
Let me introduce you to my 3 favourite tours.
When the leaves are shining and the air is clear, I'm drawn to my bike. Trails with far-reaching views and tranquillity await around Lake Traunsee. I have three tours for you - from easy to sporty. They all start directly at the Hotel Post am See.
Start your day with a slow breakfast in the Belétage. Pack a small snack. Let's ride.
1st Easy Going - Langbathseen Loop
approx. 34 km | 2.5-3 h | easy
Roll relaxed out of Traunkirchen. Heading north, past small villages.
The surface: mostly asphalt, some gravel. No technical hurdles - just let it roll.
Destination: the two Langbath lakes, deep in the forest. Crystal clear, emerald green water. Fresh in autumn, perfect for a quick dip.
Take a break at the Jagdschlösschen on the Vorderer Langbathsee. A quiet spot - ideal for a few photos.
Return via Ebensee. A trip for half days or relaxed excursions.
A ride to clear your head.
2nd Scenic & Smooth - Sonnsteinrunde
approx. 31 km | 800 hm | medium
Start in the direction of Ebensee, then off into the hinterland. Easy climbs, then you notice the metres in altitude - and enjoy the view: Lake Traunsee, Höllengebirge mountains, colourful forests.
The route: forest roads and easy trails. Technically easy, but never boring.
A stop at the Hochsteinalm? Always a good idea.
Back through the quiet Mühlbach valley. Via Mitterndorf home to Traunkirchen.
Perfect if you want to get moving without exhausting yourself.
Autumn scenery meets smooth riding.
3rd Challenge accepted - THE Feuerkogel
approx. 20 km | 1000+ hm | sporty
10 kilometres uphill. Over 1,000 metres in altitude. The last few metres burn in your legs.
Start in Traunkirchen, via Ebensee to the foot of the mountain. From here it's uphill - for real.
It's worth taking a look back from time to time: Lake Traunsee gets smaller, the mountains bigger.
Once at the top: Pure panorama - Dachstein, Tote Gebirge, Traunstein.
A stop at the Kranabethhütte? Well deserved.
Descent via the same route - and always stay on the MTB trails.
Your mountain challenge of the day.
Gear tip:
Bring your own bike or hire one on site. A helmet is compulsory, snacks are a must. And if you jump into the lake after the tour - well, that's the true mountain-lake-luxury.
Whether chilled or challenging - the trails around Traunkirchen give you views, fresh air and a real autumn feeling.
