Cold Water. Clear Head.

You’re standing by the lake, morning mist draped over the water, the sun gently reflecting on the surface. It looks calm, almost inviting. And yet you know it’s cold — very cold. The first thought comes automatically: Why am I doing this?

The moment you step in.

Then a step forwards. Your foot in the water. The cold hits you immediately - brutal, honest, awakening. Your heart beats faster, your breath shortens, every muscle is suddenly present. In this moment, there is nothing but here and now. No mobile phone, no appointments, no background noise. Just this moment.

Now breathing becomes important. Find a rhythm. Slowly in, slowly out. Don't overexert yourself, don't hurry. Knee-high is enough, maybe waist-high - or even dive in? With every breath, your body adapts a little more. The initial tension recedes, your head becomes calm and clear. The lake lies still before you, the mountains frame the moment. Cold water. Calm mind.

The reset after the cold.

After the immersion, everything feels more intense. The air, the colours, the light. Warm clothes are waiting outside and a hot coffee in the post office by the lake. Your hands are red, your nose is tingling - and this special feeling spreads inside: Energy, focus, lightness. Ice swimming is not a test of courage or a competitive sport. It is a reset. A conscious, brief discomfort that creates space for clarity. Discomfort that does you good.

At the Post am See, ice bathing is part of our winter Guest Experience programme. Not compulsory, not a must. But an offer for all those who are curious and want to give their stay a new dimension - physically and mentally. Enjoy the moment. Take it with you.
